1957 RHD Carrera Speedster....For Sale!

23 Oct 2009

An Australian New RHD Carrera Speedster GS in Stunning Silver.  Chassis #83727 is just one of 2 Carrera GS Speedsters in RHD.

It  was originally delivered to Irvin Rockman, a wealthy Australian Hotelier, via Hamilton Porsche Australia. With a known history of owners and an impressive file of receipts and documents, this car has been rightfully treated as a trophy for much of its life.
Over 2500 hours were spent restoring the car in the early 1990's, it may have been then that the car was changed from its original Rubin Rot (Ruby Red), to the uber-cool Silbermetall (Silver Metallic) it now sports. The car completely dominated the Porsche show scene for quite some time, winning Australia's Porsche National Concours outright in 1992, 1993, and taking peoples choice in 1992, 93 and 94, before the then owner decided to retire her, while it was still on top.  To read more http://www.356.com.au/forsale/index.html#   or www.ecurieinvestments.com.au

356 Restoration in under 9mins....

15 Oct 2009

You Tube brings us an amazing array of content, the latest I have spotted is a 356 restoration in under 9 mins.  Well sort of....

Sterling Restorations from the UK showcase a recent restoration they carried out on a somewhat rusty Coupe.

Check out the restoration for yourself.  Of course restorations can take years and lots of money.

The First 10 356's in NZ...

15 Oct 2009

Well done Graham on your article on the First 10 356's into NZ.  For those of you who have not read it, it is available by joining the Porsche Club of NZ.  It is in the latest edition of SPIEL.

Graham narrates through the years describing the individual cars while depicting his own thoughts as he saw these cars and also new or met some of the owners.  Great read and great history documented.

Graham and others intend assisting in writing a "NZ History of Porsche" Book, so start digging out your old pictures and stories, memorabilia of the early Porsche days in NZ.

The GT Carrera (left) was in included in the top 10.
